Companion Animal Oncology

Cancer does not respect
the boundary
between species.

Anisave develops biologics for companion animals living with cancer. The patient comes first. The science follows.

An independent company
built for one purpose.

Anisave is a Canadian companion-animal oncology company, established within the BioFund Universe to give veterinary cancer the dedicated scientific, clinical and commercial focus it deserves.

We are also part of a larger system — BioFund's OneHealth architecture, where companion-animal and human oncology are treated as scientifically connected fields.

Anisave exists to treat serious cancer in companion animals. The translational science is a product of doing that well.

The clinical foundation

The Anisave programme is led by its co-inventor, Professor Jim Petrik, from the University of Guelph. The animal hospital on campus sees 2,000 new oncology patients per year — cats and dogs with naturally occurring cancer — with over 6,000 visits annually.

Professor, Department of Biomedical Sciences · Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph
Co-Director, Bench to Bedside Institute for Translational Health Research and Innovation

Dr. Petrik has spent more than 20 years developing novel therapies for advanced-stage cancers, with a research focus on the tumour microenvironment and vascular normalization as a strategy to improve therapeutic access to solid tumours. He is the co-inventor of the Anisave programme and the scientist who leads it at the Ontario Veterinary College.

Fellow, Canadian Academy of Health Sciences — the highest honour in Canada's academic health sciences community (2021)
King Charles III Coronation Medal — awarded for contributions to cancer research and firefighter health advocacy (2024)

Three simultaneous mechanisms.
Synergistic by design.

The Anisave Platform
Lead programme

Three simultaneous mechanisms of action. Synergistic by design. Opens access to solid tumours.

01
TME Remodelling

Normalises the tumour microenvironment and the abnormal vasculature surrounding solid tumours — reducing hypoxia and interstitial pressure to open therapeutic access for co-administered treatments.

02
Direct Tumour Cell Killing

Acts via the CD36/caspase pathway to induce direct tumour cell death — independent of the immune system and independent of vascular access.

03
Immune Potentiation

Activates and amplifies the immune response against tumour cells. Preclinical studies document NK cell penetration into immunocompetent solid tumour models.

The synergy
The Anisave platform acts on all three fronts simultaneously. The TME Remodelling mechanism creates the conditions for co-administered treatments to penetrate and act within solid tumours more effectively — making the Anisave platform a natural combination partner rather than a standalone therapy competing for the same space as existing treatments.

The first programme
from a growing incubator.

Anisave originated within BioFund's animal health R&D programme — a non-profit research engine developing the next generation of companion-animal biologics. Anisave is the first. More are in active development.

Caninized Cell Line Programme
Caninized cell lines in active development under BioFund Animal Health's non-profit R&D mandate. Generating the next generation of companion-animal health candidates.

Organoid Testing Platform
Tumour organoids derived from companion-animal patients — enabling faster, more predictive preclinical validation and accelerating the path from candidate to clinic.

Forthcoming

We are selecting
one founding partner.

BioFund is selecting one founding strategic partner for Anisave — to help build a category-defining companion-animal oncology company with founding influence, defined rights, and a long-term connection to the OneHealth mission.

Strategic Partnership

We are selecting
one founding partner.

Anisave is a proudly Canadian company developing a novel animal oncology therapeutic, led by Professor Jim Petrik. One founding partner will help shape what it becomes.

Three things the founding
partner should know.

01
Independent in execution

Anisave has a dedicated mandate, leadership, rights, and development path. It was established to give companion-animal oncology the focused attention a serious medical field deserves.

02
Connected in purpose

Anisave is part of BioFund's OneHealth architecture — a system built on the premise that companion-animal and human oncology are scientifically connected, and that the best evidence comes from treating real patients with naturally occurring disease.

03
Precise in rights

Anisave holds exclusive animal oncology rights. The rights are clean, documented, and unambiguous.

Three things no comparable
asset offers simultaneously.

⬡
Incorporated & building

Anisave is a proudly Canadian company developing a novel animal oncology therapeutic. The legal structure, the rights, and the development path are established.

⬡
2,000 new oncology patients per year

Professor Jim Petrik leads translational research at the University of Guelph. The animal hospital on campus sees 2,000 new oncology patients per year — cats and dogs with naturally occurring cancer — with over 6,000 visits annually. The data, the samples, and the clinical insight come from real patients, not engineered models.

⬡
Cohort One of a growing pipeline

Anisave is the first programme to emerge from BioFund's animal health R&D incubator. Caninized cell lines and a tumour organoid testing platform are in active development — building the infrastructure to accelerate the next generation of candidates. The founding partner receives first-look option rights on what the incubator develops next.

Clean boundaries.
No ambiguity.

The rights structure is simple by design. Anisave holds what it needs to develop and commercialise. BioFund holds what it needs to protect the long-horizon human mission. No overlap, no creep.

Anisave holds
BioFund retains
Primary rights
Exclusive companion-animal oncology rights globally
Reserved
All human therapeutic rights, all human indications, full platform sovereignty
Development
Veterinary CMC, regulatory strategy, clinical development, manufacturing and commercialisation
Science
Core platform research, future human candidates, long-horizon translational science
Pipeline access
First-look option rights on future animal candidates from the BioFund incubator, asset-by-asset
Data governance
Cross-species data access governed by a defined framework, with specified terms and economics

Independent in execution. Connected in purpose. Precise in rights.

The founding partner
is a builder, not a buyer.

One founding strategic partner. The conversation begins with capability and conviction.

01
Veterinary development capability

The founding partner runs the programme — CMC, regulatory strategy, clinical operations, and commercial execution. The expertise and infrastructure to bring a companion-animal biologic to market.

02
Commercial reach

Global or regional commercial infrastructure across the markets that matter for companion-animal therapeutics — with the ability to build Anisave as a focused, standalone oncology brand.

03
Long-term conviction

Companion-animal oncology is a serious medical field. The founding partner sees it that way — as a strategic priority deserving a dedicated company, a dedicated team, and a long development horizon.

04
Mission alignment

Anisave is part of BioFund's OneHealth architecture. The founding partner gains a disciplined translational bridge between companion-animal and human oncology — built into the programme by design.

Begin the conversation.

If companion-animal oncology is a strategic priority, we would like to speak. First conversations are straightforward and confidential.
